Below you will find a press release from December 24 2013:

Dutch carpet manufacturer Edel Group introduces the LISA detection floor, an innovative underlay which detects movements and sends out a warning when these movements are considered to be dangerous or unusual. LISA detection floor allows the monitoring of patients in hospitals or residents in a care home, guarding their safety whilst respecting their privacy.

LISA detection floor has been designed to deliver customized care at a manageable cost. With the world population ageing, the need for health care is rising whereas the ability to deliver this and indeed afford it is declining. LISA detection floor provides an extra pair of eyes within hospitals, within care and nursing homes and also within the home, allowing elderly or young adults with disabilities to live more securely and safely.

The technology behind the LISA detection floor is new and completely safe. It is based on changes in a weak electric field that detects movement patterns. LISA detection floor is an underlay, to be placed under a flooring such as carpet, vinyl or wood. It is easily installed as it consists of tiles which are placed next to each other. All tiles have a built-in intelligent registration unit. The registration unit detects movement and sends this information to a central control panel which collects and interprets all data. This panel can be connected to any possible (existing) control system. In case of a possible emergency, an alarm is sent out automatically.
LISA detection floor can be used for different purposes and as a substitution for current digital devices such as cameras and alarm buttons. It can detect possibly dangerous movements, such as a fall, or unusual behavioual patterns and report any unwanted situation. There is no need for the person to act themselves or a carer to be at hand or on standby.

The jury of [email protected] 2014 - a new platform for innovations during DOMOTEX, the trade fair for floor coverings in Hanover, Germany - has selected the LISA detection floor as one of the new products to be presented. LISA detection floor will also be at display at the Edel Group stand.
